Cigarette Blamed For Lakewood Fire

LAKEWOOD – A cigarette is being blamed for causing a fire at a local business complex this morning.

Around 7:30 a.m. Monday the Lakewood Fire Department and Lakewood-Busti Police Department responded to 401 E Fairmount Ave. for a reported structure fire. That address has multiple businesses located there, including two insurance agencies, a financial advisor and a chiropractor.

After extinguishing the fire, the Chautauqua County Fire Investigation Team was requested to the scene to conduct an origin and cause fire investigation. Investigators determined that the fire was caused by a discarded cigarette along the exterior of the building.
