Police officers are pictured near the scene of a fatal motorcycle accident early Sunday morning.

A Jamestown man has been identified as the victim of a motorcycle crash at 7:56 a.m. Sunday on Buffalo Street near Beechview Avenue.

The rider was identified Monday Kyle Pitts, 26, of Jamestown.

City police officers responded to the scene, with a coroner later called to the scene. A preliminary investigation of the accident scene indicated that the driver of the motorcycle left the road and hit a telephone pole. The rider was taken to UPMC Chautauqua and succumbed to his injuries.

The Chautauqua County Sheriff’s Department Accident Reconstruction Team is assisting in the ongoing investigation into the accident.
