Jamestown Public Schools District officials were made aware this week of a rumor circulating at Persell Middle School regarding a Snapchat message containing a threat to a school district outside of the area.

After a thorough investigation, the Jamestown Police Department has determined there is no credible threat to Persell or any Jamestown schools.

“We continue to proactively communicate with JPD as we both monitor this rumor,” the district said in a message to parents and posted on its Facebook page. “JPS is dedicated to ensuring the safety of our students and staff and will continue to communicate directly in the case of any situations we hear that may affect our schools.”
