UPDATE: One Charged As City Police Investigate Multiple Shootings

A Jamestown man has been charged with second-degree criminal possession of a weapon as Jamestown police continue their investigation into three shootings Friday and Saturday.

The first incident was early Friday morning. The victim of that incident was at a downtown establishment and had a confrontation with another individual after leaving. The victim has been transported to an out of town hospital with life threatening injuries.

Then, later Friday, Jamestown officers on patrol responded to the 800 block of Prendergast Avenue for a report of a victim of a gunshot with minor injures. The person was treated and released with non-life threatening injuries. The investigation is continuing at this time.

Around 1 a.m. Saturday city police officers responded to Victoria Avenue for another report of a gunshot complaint in which one person was taken to an out-of-town hospital for treatment of life-threatening injuries. As a result of the third investigation, Juan A. Tufino Jr., 33, of Jamestown was found to be in possession of a loaded pistol. He was charged with second-degree criminal possession of a weapon and taken to the Jamestown City Jail until he could be arraigned.

“The investigations into all of these incidents are continuing,” the Jamestown Police Department said in a news release Saturday. “All incidents are believed to be targeted incidents where the offender knew the victim.”

Jamestown police aren’t releasing the name of any of the victims in the shootings yet.
