City Man Allegedly Assaults People Following Crash
A Jamestown resident is facing multiple charges after allegedly assaulting multiple people following a vehicle accident.
On Aug. 8 at 8:52 a.m., Jamestown officers from the First Platoon responded to a motor vehicle accident with injuries in the vicinity of West 3rd Street near West 4th Street. Upon arrival, they encountered a confrontation involving several individuals in a nearby parking lot.
During this encounter, it is alleged that Blake A. Perry, 20, attempted to assault an officer before fleeing the scene. Subsequently, the officer employed a taser to detain Perry, leading to his apprehension without further incident.
Further investigation allegedly revealed that Perry had been driving at an excessively high speed, resulting in a collision with another vehicle and causing injury to the other driver. Perry then exited his damaged vehicle, assaulted an uninvolved male bystander, and unsuccessfully attempted to hijack a vehicle being operated by a female.
Afterward, Perry allegedly forcibly entered a van with a passenger inside, leading to a physical altercation between him and the van’s operator.
During that altercation, Perry allegedly struck the operator in the face while attempting to flee in the van. Jamestown Police arrived while this was taking place.
After being transported to the Jamestown City Jail, Perry was charged with second-degree attempted robbery, third-degree attempted grand larceny, two counts of third-degree assault, resisting arrest, failure to keep right, speed not reasonable or prudent, reckless driving, and leaving the scene of a personal injury accident.
Perry was arraigned in Jamestown City Court and subsequently released in accordance with NYS bail reform.
