Vacant Home Damaged By Fire Early Saturday Morning

A fire early Saturday morning damaged a vacant home at 24 BRoadhead Ave., Jamestown.

The property is currently owned by the CHautauqua County Land Bank.

Jamestown firefighters responded to the fire at 12:15 a.m. and found the front porch of the home on fire with fire extending to the front porch porch roof and involving the vinyl siding of second story and roof eaves at the corner of the building. The front door was closed and all first floor windows and exterior doors were either intact and/or closed or covered with plywood. Firefighters determined the fire wasn’t going to damage any neighboring buildings. All utilities had been previously disconnected.

Firefighters stretched one 1 3/4″ hand attack line to the corner of the home and put out the fire on the front porch. Within a couple minutes, the bulk of fire was knocked down. Firefighters then entered the home an searched it, confirming no one was inside. Firefighters cleared the scene at 1:50 a.m.

Off-shift firefighters were called in to assist. No injuries were reported. The fire is under investigation. Anyone with information about this fire incident is asked to contact Jamestown Fire Department Fire & Arson Tip-Line @ (716) 483-7509. Information may be left anonymously.
