A Jamestown man faces more than a dozen charges after leading police on a high-speed chase through downtown Jamestown and the city’s north side early Saturday morning.

According to a police report, around 2:15 a.m. officers patrolling the downtown area of Jamestown saw a motorcycle with no plates being driven by Darius L. Franklin, 26, of Jamestown. Officers report knowing Franklin’s driver’s license was revoked in New York state. When they attempted to pull Franklin over he sped away and led a pursuit throughout the north side of the city. During the course of the pursuit, Franklin was observed to run multiple stop signs and red lights, and also operated the motorcycle on the public sidewalk of a residential area. The pursuit eventually ended when Franklin tried to vacate the bike at his residence, and Franklin was subsequently taken into custody without further incident.

After further investigation, it was also found that Franklin was allegedly driving the motorcycle while intoxicated.

Franklin was charged with first-degree aggravated unlicensed operation, driving while intoxicated, reckless driving, unlicensed operator, 10 counts of failure to stop at stop sign, operating motor vehicle on sidewalk, four counts of passing a red light, failure to keep right, driving on shoulder, unregistered motor vehicle, uninsured motor vehicle, uninspected motor vehicle, and operating a motorcycle without a helmet. Franklin was taken to the Jamestown City Jail until he could be arraigned.

– William R. Gardner, 24, of Jamestown was charged with resisting arrest and Vehicle and Traffic Law violations and was arrested on a valid bench warrant from Jamestown City Court at 6:08 p.m. Sunday. According to a police report, Gardner was seen riding a bicycle on the sidewalk along East Eighth and Spring streets. Police report knowing Gardner had a valid arrest warrant and, when they tried to pull the bicycle over, Gardner allegedly fled west on West Eighth Street, up a side street and through backyards. Gardner was seen running into a house. He eventually came out and was taken to the city jail until he could be arraigned .

– Alex C. Peru, 32, of Jamestown was charged with second-degree criminal impersonation at 6:45 p.m. Sunday after officers responded to a report of a suspicious person on Forest Avenue near Warner Place. Police report the person was looking into windows of cars in the area. Police report making contact with Peru, who then allegedly lied to officers about his identity by giving them a relative’s information in an attempt to avoid being arrested on an outstanding warrant through the Chautauqua County Sheriff’s Office. Peru was charged and taken to the city jail until he could be arraigned.
