Donations To Help Local Family After Recent Fire

Clothing items are being collected to help a Jamestown family whose home was damaged by fire last week.

“The hearts of our entire Fletcher family are with the Castellanos family following the devastating fire that occurred on Friday,” said Amanda Sischo, principal of Fletcher Elementary School. “As soon as we were made aware, our staff here came together to rally behind the family in their time of need. We would welcome any support from the community.”

The following items were being collected:

— girls size 7/8 tops and size 7 pants

— girls size 1 or 2 shoes

— boys size 6 shirts and 6x pants

— boys size 1 or 2 shoes

— women’s 3x tops and stretchy 3x pants

— women’s size 11 shoes

— men’s shoes size 12

— men’s 2XL shirt and 38/34 pants

Sischo said clothing items can be dropped off at the main office of Fletcher Elementary School, 301 Cole Ave. by Friday.

“We are grateful to the community for their support,” Sischo said.

Jamestown firefighters were called to the family’s south side home the afternoon of Feb. 9 for a reported grease fire. Crews encountered heavy smoke and fire at the rear of the property.

In a news release, the Jamestown Fire Department said the family was assisted by the Red Cross.
