Stephen Carlson is heading to the Windy City.

The Jamestown native is reportedly signing a one-year contract with the Chicago Bears after the former Cleveland tight end worked out at Chicago’s minicamp this weekend.

The news was first reported Saturday afternoon via a Tweet from NFL Network Insider Tom Pelissero and @RapSheet.

Carlson, a 2015 graduate of Jamestown High School and 2019 graduate of Princeton University, returns to the NFL after not being tendered a contract by the Browns in 2022. The 6-foot-4, 250-pound tight end tore his ACL in August 2021 in a preseason game against Jacksonville and missed all of the 2021 season. Signed by Cleveland as an undrafted free agent in April 2019, Carlson played in all 16 games in 2020, including two starts. He caught only one pass for 11 yards, but was a key contributor on special teams where he made nine tackles.

Starting at $3.50/week.
