City Man Charged With DWI After Wellman Road Accident

A Jamestown man faces charges after an accident at 4:53 p.m. Sunday on Wellman Road in Busti.

According to a police report, Steven A. Stills Jr., 22, of Cook Avenue, Jamestown, was charged with speed not reasonable or prudent, failure to keep right, failure to maintain lane, operating a mobile device while driving, leaving the scene of a property damage accident and aggravated driving while intoxicated for having a blood-alcohol content of more than .18% after officers responded to a report of a grey Chevy Cruz that was allegedly being driven recklessly.

Police report the vehicle went off the road, traveling 200 yards along a ditch before coming back onto the road, narrowly missing a tree and a telephone pole before jumping a pile of logs and shearing off a sign post. Witnesses told police officers the vehicle didn’t stop and kept going while leaving behind several vehicle parts and its front license plate.

Jamestown police officers assisted Lakewood-Busti police officers and found the vehicle at the driver’s Cook Avenue address with the car still running and Stills reportedly still behind the wheel. According to a police report, Stills allegedly had a .25% blood-alcohol content. He was charged and will be in Busti Town Court later.
