A 64-year-old Jamestown man was taken into custody Monday afternoon after reportedly pointing a handgun at a city firefighter.
Peter E. Ludwig was set to be arraigned Tuesday morning in Jamestown City Court on charges of second-degree menacing and second-degree criminal possession of a weapon. The charges were announced in a news release by the Jamestown Police Department.
An officer was flagged down Monday around 1:45 p.m. by a firefighter who said a man had “pointed a handgun at them and went into the Jamestown Police Department station,” JPD said.
That man, identified as Ludwig, exited the East Second Street police station where he brandished the gun to an officer and was quickly taken into custody.
Police Chief Timothy Jackson said the gun, which was loaded, was recovered by officers. He said an investigation into the incident remains ongoing.
