County Surpasses 13K Cases Of COVID-19 To Date

The county Health Department reported 288 new cases of COVID-19, along with six new virus-related deaths, for the week ending Oct. 23.

The new cases pushes the county’s total past 13,000 to date. There have been 13,129 confirmed cases as well as 12,671 total recoveries and 206 deaths. There are currently 252 active cases of COVID-19 in the county, 21 people with the virus in the hospital, 540 in the hospital and a seven-day positivity rate of 5.8%.

The CDC level of community transmission remains “high.”

The weekly total represents a slight bump from the week ending Oct. 16, when 234 new cases were recorded. Prior to that, 428 were reported the week ending Oct. 9; 579 the week ending Oct. 2; 491 the week ending Sept. 18; 413 the week ending Sept. 11; and 285 the week ending Sept. 4.

There have been 3,695 confirmed cases of the virus in the county since Aug. 1. Of those, 52% involve people not vaccinated, 14% who were fully vaccinated, 6% partially vaccinated and 27% whose vaccination status was not known.
