County Reports 22 New COVID-19 Cases; 254 Since Aug. 1

Chautauqua County recorded 22 new cases of COVID-19, bringing the total this month to 254.

Of the new cases reported by the county Health Department, six come from the Jamestown zip code, three each in Fredonia, Ashville and Falconer, two in Dunkirk and one each in Forestville, Cherry Creek, Frewsburg, Lakewood and Ripley.

There are currently 119 active cases, an increase of six from Wednesday’s statistics; seven people with the virus in the hospital, no change; 276 people in quarantine, an increase of 27; and a seven-day positivity rate of 6%, an increase of 0.06%.

The CDC level of community transmission remains at “substantial.”

To date there have been 9,598 total confirmed cases, 9,320 recoveries and 159 virus-related deaths.
