Body Recovered After Search Begins Near Dunkirk City Pier
DUNKIRK — The body of a male was recovered after first responders were notified early this morning of a person who went into the water at the Dunkirk City Pier.
The Dunkirk Police Department and Chautauqua County Sheriff James Quattrone confirmed the drowning.
Crews, including Dunkirk police, Dunkirk fire and Chautauqua County EMS, were called to the pier around 12:45 a.m. for a report of a juvenile child possibly in the water. The county’s Water Emergency Team and marine units also responded.
In a news release, Dunkirk police said two males went into the water off the pier with only one exiting.
A body was recovered following a search.
