Man Accused Of Tampering With Headstones In Westfield Cemetery
WESTFIELD — A 21-year-old Jamestown man accused of writing on several headstones and spray painting a building on the grounds of Union Cemetery in Westfield has been charged.
Kobe A. Gibbons turned himself into the Westfield Police Department on Thursday following an investigation. Officers had been called June 28 to the East Main Road cemetery after someone had “tampered with several headstones in the cemetery and made graffiti on the building located on the cemetery grounds,” the police department said in a news release.
It was determined that Gibbons had allegedly written on the headstones using chalk and wrote on the building using spray paint.
Gibbons was charged with making graffiti and third-degree tampering. He is scheduled to appear in Westfield Town Court on July 27.
