Region’s COVID Positivity Rate Keeps Climbing

New York state’s seven-day COVID-19 positivity rate remains around 3% on Friday, but in Western New York there is definitely a problem. According to state figures, the rate in this region is 5.25%, about 2.23%% higher than all of the Empire State.

From April 9 to Thursday, the county reported 220 new cases of COVID-19. There are no updates offered by the Health Department on weekends.

In terms of vaccinations, Chautauqua County is getting closer to the 50,000 mark as of Saturday morning for the first dose. Currently, 38.3% of the residents have had one shot while the state average is at 40.9%.
