Two adults who Ellicott police say drove their three children to engage in a fight with a 12-year-old are facing conspiracy and child endangerment charges.

Officers were called to a reported assault around 4 p.m. Tuesday in the area of Lake Street in Celoron.

It was learned that 35-year-old Thomas C. Stingel and 33-year-old Shelley M. Stingel allegedly drove their three children, including 18-year-old Corey J. Stingel, to the Celoron area “to engage in a fight with a 12-year-old.”

In a news release, the Ellicott Police Department said, “It is alleged that the family located the victim in the area of East Lake Street, where he was assaulted by Corey Stingel and another juvenile male.”

The Stingels were not around when officers arrived. It was not clear what may have precipitated the encounter.

Warrants were issued out of Ellicott Town Court, and all three — Thomas, Shelley and Corey Stingel — were located in the Falconer area.

Thomas and Shelley Stingel are each facing two counts of endangering the welfare of a child and fifth-degree conspiracy; Corey Stingel is facing charges of third-degree assault and fifth-degree conspiracy.

Another juvenile involved was not charged.
