Pair Facing Robbery Charges Following Saturday Incident In Jamestown
Two city residents are facing robbery charges following an incident early Saturday, the Jamestown Police Department announced.
Officers were called around 12:30 a.m. to 20 Willis St. for a report of a person with a weapon. It was learned that 52-year-old Roberto Morales-Sanchez and another person got into an argument over stolen property and at one point Morales-Sanchez allegedly displayed a revolver and threatened the other person.
When the victim attempted to call for help, Morales-Sanchez and 23-year-old Taylor Austin reportedly stole the victim’s phone.
“At one point, Morales-Sanchez forced everybody at gun-point who were inside the home to go into a room and be quiet so that the police would not hear them,” JPD said in a news release Monday. “The victim saw an opportunity to flee the home and took it, running to a neighboring house to get help. That is when the neighbors called 911 and got police to respond.”
Morales-Sanchez and Austin, according to Jamestown police, then got into a vehicle in search for the victim.
A search warrant for the Willis Street residence and the vehicle was sought by the Jamestown Metro Drug Task Force. A search later turned up $25,000 in cash, a revolver and drug packaging.
Morales-Sanchez was taken into custody on charges of first-degree robbery, second-degree criminal possession of a weapon, second-degree menacing and unlawful imprisonment. Austin was charged with first-degree robbery and second-degree criminal possession of a weapon.
Neither had pistol permits.
