Kiantone Home Deemed ‘Total Loss’ Following Fire

A home in the town of Kiantone was deemed a total loss after fire broke out early Monday.

Volunteer firefighters from numerous departments were called to the blaze, reported around 1:45 a.m. at 105 Sturdevant Road, just north of the New York-Pennsylvania border. County 911 dispatch received word of fire on the front porch of the property, and the flames quickly spread to other parts of the home.

“The house was heavily damaged by fire and is a total loss,” said Capt. Rich Telford of the Chautauqua County Fire Investigation Team.

Firefighters from Frewsburg, Busti, Panama, Falconer, Lakewood and Gerry assisted crews from Kiantone. Chautauqua County EMS also responded to Sturdevant Road.

The fire, the cause of which remains undetermined, is under investigation.
