Vaccinations continue to show increasing numbers in Chautauqua County. According to New York state — through Saturday — 22,352 residents have received the first shot with 10,417 fully vaccinated.

New York state’s overall total for the first shot of the vaccine was 17.6%, about 0.4% higher than Chautauqua County.

Cattaraugus County was at 14.7% and Allegany County was at 13.2% and is no longer at the bottom of the list. That honor goes to Orleans County, at 12.3 percent, which is also in Western New York.

Approximately 10 million New Yorkers are currently eligible to receive the vaccine. New York’s vast distribution network and large population of eligible individuals still far exceed the supply coming from the federal government.

Due to limited supply, New Yorkers are encouraged to remain patient and are advised not to show up at vaccination sites without an appointment.
