Active COVID Cases, Hospitalizations, Quarantines All Drop In County

Active COVID-19 cases, hospitalizations and those in quarantine all dropped in statistics released Tuesday morning by the Chautauqua County Department of Health.

Only 14 new cases of the virus were recorded, with no new COVID-related fatalities, in information collected Monday. To date there have been 7,454 total confirmed cases, along with 7,194 recoveries and 136 deaths.

There were currently 124 active cases, a drop from the 141 reported Monday; and 10 people with the virus in the hospital, a drop of three. Those in quarantine, meanwhile, decreased as well, from 415 to 394; and the seven-day positivity rate went from 1.4% to 1.3%.

Elsewhere, Cattaraugus County health officials announced its 86th virus-related death involving a 60-year-old man who reportedly developed respiratory failure. “We extend our deepest condolences to his family and the entire Cattaraugus County community,” the county said in a statement.

The health department announced 19 new COVID cases on Monday, marking 4,250 to date in addition to 216 active cases, 21 people with the virus in the hospital and a seven-day positivity rate of 3.2%.
