Route 430 November Crash Blamed On Drug Use

CHAUTAUQUA — An investigation into an accident in late November has led to charges against a Lakewood man for allegedly driving while under the influence of a combination of drugs.

Chautauqua County sheriff’s deputies reported Sunday that Shawn L. Arnold, 41, was also charged with third-degree aggravated unlicensed operation and failure to keep right after the afternoon accident with injuries that occurred on Nov. 25 on Route 430 in the town of Chautauqua.

Two vehicles, one operated by Jacqueline M. Tynan, 31, of Bemus Point, and the other operated by Arnold with Austin T. Syper, 42, of Westfield, as a passenger, were involved. At the time, Tynan was evaluated at the scene and released.

Arnold was transported to Westfield Memorial Hospital to be further evaluated for injuries and later released. Arnold will be in the Town of Chautauqua Court at a later date to answer for the charges.
