It could get gusty in Chautauqua County.
A high wind warning by the National Weather Service in Buffalo goes into effect at 6 a.m. Sunday morning and lasts through 1 a.m. Monday. The warning is for all of Chautauqua County and for southern Erie County.
According to the weather service, winds could reach 30 to 40 mph with gusts up to 65 mph.
“Damaging winds will blow down trees and power lines,” the weather service said in its warning. “Shallow-rooted pines and dead ash trees will be most susceptible. Widespread power outages are expected. Travel will be difficult, especially for high-profile vehicles.”
“People should avoid being outside in forested areas and around trees and branches,” the warning continued. “If possible, remain in the lower levels of your home during the windstorm, and avoid windows. Use caution if you must drive.”
