Drugs, Pills Lead To Charges For Fredonia Man

A Fredonia man whose vehicle contained Ecstasy pills and marijuana, is facing charges after being stopped on Thursday.

State Police in Jamestown charged Philip Whitfield, 27, with fifth-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, fourth-degree criminal possession of marijuana and second-degree unlawful possession of marijuana.

A vehicle in which Whitfield was riding drove through a road check on Route 60 in Jamestown and while speaking to the occupants, the troopers smelled marijuana emanating from inside the vehicle. Upon searching the vehicle, the Troopers located a bag containing 35 Ecstasy pills, over seven ounces of marijuana, and several items used for weighing and packaging drugs, all of which were determined to be Whitfield’s.

Whitfield was placed under arrest, transported to Jamestown and processed. Whitfield was issued appearance tickets and is scheduled to appear in the town of Kiantone Court next month.
