A man wanted in a suspected burglary and who led police on a pursuit before crashing Wednesday is facing multiple charges.

The Jamestown Police Department announced the arrest of 41-year-old Stephen C. Dean. Officers were asked to assist a citizen following a light-colored sedan involved in a burglary in the town of Kiantone.

The driver failed to comply and fled, leading officers on a chase through the downtown area. In a news release, JPD said Dean struck several construction signs on West Second Street before entering Potters Alley.

Dean then struck an eastbound vehicle on East Fifth Street before exiting the vehicle and fleeing on foot. He was taken into custody in the 7-Eleven parking lot.

The driver of the vehicle involved in the crash was transported by ambulance to UPMC Chautauqua for treatment of injuries not believed to be serious.

Dean, who was not injured, was charged with failure to comply, obstructing governmental administration and numerous traffic violations. The investigation remains ongoing, and Jamestown police say additional charges are expected.
