UPDATE: COVID-19 Cases Reported At Dunkirk Are False
The first two positive COVID-19 cases listed on a state dashboard are false for Dunkirk School 7, said Superintendent Michael Mansfield.
According to the state’s COVID-19 school report card, the cases were reported at School 7. There were no other cases reported at the other elementary or secondary locations.
Mansfield said, in a call to the OBSERVER, there are currently no cases in the district.
In a statement, the superintendent said:
“On the September 15, 2020 New York Department of Health COVID-19 Report Card it was erroneously reported that two students from Dunkirk Elementary School #7 had tested positive for COVID-19. The report was inaccurate due to human error in creating the report card submission on 9/15/2020.
“The District apologizes for any unnecessary concern this report may have caused and is taking steps to ensure the accuracy of this report in the future.”
