Turbine On Truck, Roundabout Result In Headache For Motorists
A 156-foot semi-truck carrying a windmill tower base section, brought noontime traffic to a halt for almost 30 minutes at the Routes 20 and 60 roundabout in Fredonia.
The truck, traveling west on Route 20, was attempting to make a left-hand turn on to Route 60 south.
The truck, weighing 260,000 pounds was accompanied by two pilot vehicles and several State Police vehicles. The driver had a difficult time navigating around the new roundabout due to a yield sign placed in the inner circle at the west Route 20 entrance to the roundabout. Many temporary traffic control barrels and cones were moved to facilitate the turn.
