Student Enrolled At Sinclairville School Tests Positive For COVID-19

A student enrolled at Sinclairville Elementary School, but who has not been in the building, has reportedly tested positive for COVID-19.

In a message posted Thursday evening, Cassadaga Valley Superintendent Chuck Leichner said he was notified of the positive case by the county Department of Health. “The individual case involves a student who is enrolled in but because the child has been following Chautauqua County Department of Health quarantine/isolation guidelines, this individual has not been in our building or on our campus this school year.

“Since the health department has identified this individual they are expected to follow the DOH’s quarantine/isolation guidelines and will not return to school until they have completed the quarantine/isolation procedures for COVID-19 as directed by the Department of Health.

“The district cannot release any further details due to the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) and the Health Insurance Portability & Accounting Act (HIPAA) requirements. However, we will provide further updates if additional steps need to be taken by the District. Please continue to monitor your child for symptoms and have him/her stay home if they are sick. In addition, please contact your child’s healthcare provider if they develop symptoms or if you have any additional questions or concerns.”
