State Police Release Additional Info After Child Found In Pool

More information has been released after a 3-year-old child who was found in a pool died Monday evening.

According to the New York State Police, troopers were called to a report of a missing child on Damon Hill Road in the town of Gerry around 4:40 p.m. While responding, troopers were notified that the unresponsive child had been located at the bottom of an above-ground pool.

Troopers and Chautauqua County sheriff’s deputies administered life-saving measures but were unsuccessful.

The child did not have a life vest on at the time of the incident, the state police said in a news release.

The body was transported to the Erie County Medical Examiner’s Office for an autopsy.

Sinclairville Fire Department and EMS assisted in this incident.

The incident is still under investigation.
