Video of dog being struck sparks outrage

The State University of New York at Fredonia said it is aware of a video posted to social media over the weekend reportedly showing a student striking a dog several times.

“The campus is aware of the incident, and is gathering information,” Jeff Woodard, director of marketing and communications at SUNY Fredonia, said in a statement.

The Fredonia Police Department has also been made aware of the incident. The chief of police was not available when the department was contacted Monday.

The video, which drew scorn online, shows a person walking up to a dog and taking at least four swings. The dog yelps several times.

It’s not known exactly when the incident was filmed. The content was posted to Snapchat before being shared elsewhere.
