Police Release Name Of Child Killed In Route 60 Crash
The New York State Police has released the name of the 7-year-old who was killed in Monday’s three-vehicle crash on Route 60 in the town of Pomfret.
Police said Emmaline A. Wilcox was pronounced dead following the collision. Troopers and the Fredonia-based Bureau of Criminal Investigation out of State Police in Fredonia responded around 4:10 p.m. to Route 60.
Preliminary investigation revealed that a 2009 Hyundai was traveling northbound and rear-ended a 2016 Kia, which was stopped in the southbound lane waiting to turn left into a parking lot.
The 2016 Kia was pushed into the southbound lane and struck by a 2016 Volvo tractor-trailer traveling southbound. The 35-year-old operator, who has not been identified, and Wilcox were transported to Brooks Memorial Hospital.
The operator was treated for non-life threatening injuries. The 7-year-old passenger was pronounced deceased.
The accident temporarily forced the closure of Route 60 for a period of time.
Monday evening, residents in the Cassadaga Valley Central School District received an automated phone call stating a first-grade Sinclairville Elementary student had died in the accident.
The crash remains under investigation.
