SOUTH DAYTON — The New York State Police Bureau of Criminal Investigation is investigating after a male was reportedly found shot early this morning.

The incident was reported at about 6:18 a.m. at a farm on Route 83 in the town of Cherry Creek. Police had been alerted to a possible shooting.

A man was found shot multiple times on the property, about a tenth of a mile from Pine Valley Central School. The man was transported via Mercy Flight to the hospital; his condition wasn’t known.

According to a post on the district’s Facebook page: “Pine Valley Central School District will be CLOSED today, Tuesday 10/1/2019 due to safety concerns. We take the safety of all students and staff seriously. Stay home and stay SAFE Panthers.”

Cherry Creek Fire Department, Chautauqua County EMS also responded to the incident.
