(2:28 PM) City Woman Charged After Morning Stabbing

A city resident is facing charges after she reportedly stabbed another person in front of a child Thursday morning.

Officers were called at 11:33 a.m. to a home on East Fifth Street for a reported stabbing. Upon arrival, officers located a male on the sidewalk with a stab wound to his right bicep.

Inside the residence, police found 24-year-old Karina D. Johnson-Fontanez. An investigation found that Johnson-Fontanez had allegedly stabbed the male while inside the home in front of a 5-month-old child.

Johnson-Fontanez was taken into custody on charges of second-degree assault, endangering the welfare of a child and fourth-degree criminal possession of a weapon. She was held for arraignment.

The victim was transported to UPMC Chautauqua.
