A city man is being held for arraignment on robbery and assault charges following an incident Tuesday morning.

Jamestown police took 30-year-old Kevin T. Klemens into custody after being called around 7:30 a.m. to a Barrows Street home for a report of a person with a knife. Upon arrival, officers found a woman with a laceration to her right hand.

The woman told police that Klemens had left and was heading toward Hazzard Street. Moments later, Klemens was located on Hazzard Street, Jamestown police said in a news release.

“Upon further investigation, the female victim was (found to have been) held at knife point while the suspect took multiple items belonging to the victim and left the residence,” JPD said.

The woman suffered minor injuries and declined medical treatment.

Klemens is facing charges of first-degree robbery, fourth-degree criminal mischief, second-degree assault, seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, third-degree criminal possession of a weapon and fifth-degree criminal possession of stolen property. He was being held for an appearance in Jamestown City Court.

The city man was previously jailed in August on a petit larceny charge after police said he, while a groomsman in a wedding, allegedly stole cards from the newlyweds that contained gifts.
