Charges are pending against the driver of a vehicle that led police on a multi-state pursuit Tuesday afternoon.

Officers with the Jamestown Police Department attempted to stop the vehicle around 3:30 p.m. However, the driver — who was not identified by police by press time — took off, leading officers from the city to Frewsburg and shortly thereafter into Pennsylvania.

The pursuit went from Russell, Pa., to Sugar Grove, Pa., in Warren County before heading north back into New York.

Officers from the Lakewood-Busti Police Department and Chautauqua County Sheriff’s Office joined the chase.

Spike trips were deployed by Lakewood-Busti officers, and the vehicle eventually came to a stop on Big Tree Road, near Cowing Road, in the town of Busti.

The driver was taken into custody; his vehicle was towed from the scene.

Police could not provide any further information Tuesday.
