(2:02 PM) Two Charged With Possession Of Stolen Weapons, Drugs After Wednesday Shooting On Bowen Street

Jamestown police have charged two individuals with possession of stolen handguns and drugs.

According to a police report, officers responded to 152 Bowen St. for a report of several shots being fired inside the home. Officers secured the home and found that Jahdiel Rivera, 19, and Omar A. Vera-Velazquez, 21, were both inside the home and had discharged several rounds from a pistol. Both men were found to be in possession of four handguns that were all reported as being stolen from burglaries. One of the weapons was allegedly stolen from Chautauqua County with the other three allegedly stolen from a gunshop burglary in Columbus, Pa.

Investigators with the Jamestown Metro Drug Task Force and the federal Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms assisted with the investigation and also allegedly recovered 2.25 ounces of powder cocaine, 1.5 ounces of heroin/fentanyl and drug paraphernalia.

Rivera and Vera-Velazquez were charged with four counts of possession of a firearm, possession of stolen property, possession of a controlled substance and multiple other criminal charges. Police said in a news release additional charges are expected.

No injuries were reported in the incident. Rivera and Vera-Velazquez were taken to the Jamestown City Jail until they could be arraigned.
