(1:55 PM) Bemus Point Man Jailed After Reported Assault Of Woman
A Bemus Point man accused of assaulting a woman was jailed Tuesday.
Officers with the Jamestown Police Department responded at about 10:20 a.m. to 631 Newland Ave. for a report of a physical domestic dispute. Police found a woman outside the property “extremely upset and crying.”
An investigation found that 38-year-old Joshua S. Danielson allegedly “held the victim down and choked her to the point of the victim having difficulty breathing,” Jamestown police said in a statement. “Danielson also reportedly punched the victim in the face and held an open flame to the back of her neck from a lighter.”
“Also the previous day, Danielson reportedly hit the victim in the leg with a machete, causing bruising and a welt.”
Officers said the Bemus Point man attempted to flee the apartment through a window but was located a short distance away and taken into custody. He is facing charges of second-degree assault and criminal obstruction of breathing/blood circulation.
