(9:50 AM) Jamestown Man Facing Rape Charges After Report Of ‘Suspicious Situation’

A Jamestown man is facing several rape charges following a report of a “suspicious situation” in May, the Chautauqua County Sheriff’s Office said.

Richard Lafrance, 33, is being held without bail at the Chautauqua County Jail following an investigation by the Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigation Division and the New York State Police. The Sheriff’s Office received the report of a suspicious situation May 9.

The Sheriff’s Office said the incidents took place in the towns of Sheridan and Ellery. No further information was released.

Lafrance was taken into custody Monday. He is facing charges of two counts of second-degree rape, three counts of second-degree criminal sex act and first-degree sexual abuse.
