(10:40 AM) Man Charged After Providing False Name To Troopers

A Cheektowaga man learned Sunday it isn’t wise to provide police with the identity of another person.

Jaqwan Martin, 28, was a passenger in a vehicle stopped on Route 60 Sunday by troopers of the Jamestown police barracks. The vehicle was stopped for a traffic violation.

According to police, Martin provided troopers with the name of another individual. When advised that there was an active warrant for that person, Martin “admitted his true identity” and was taken into custody, the state police said.

Martin’s identity was confirmed through records at police barracks; he was processed and transported to Chautauqua County Jail.

The driver of the vehicle, 22-year-old Shane Colbert, was issued an appearance ticket for unlawful possession of marijuana after troopers reported finding 3 grams of marijuana and a marijuana cigarette.
