Burner Left On Stove Cited As Cause Of Ashville House Fire

A burner left on a kitchen stove was cited as the cause of a fire inside a home Monday evening.

Firefighters were called at 7:47 p.m. to the fire at 4815 Cedar Ave. in Ashville. Fire officials went on scene reporting smoke coming from the property.

Members of the Chautauqua County Fire Investigation Team were summoned to determine the cause of the incident. An investigation found that the fire originated on a kitchen stove “due to a burner being on without the owner’s knowledge,” the team said late Monday.

No injuries were reported.

Ashville firefighters were assisted by Chautauqua, Lakewood and Panama volunteer fire departments.
