Dozens of trees and power lines fell victim to a storm that moved through Chautauqua County on Saturday evening.

National Grid crews were kept busy after the storm — which prompted a severe thunderstorm warning from the National Weather Service in Buffalo — moved east from the Erie, Pa., area through Cattaraugus County.

About 2,000 National Grid customers were without power in the storm’s aftermath in southern Chautauqua County, with the most coming in the Lakewood area.

During a one-hour period Saturday, firefighters from Westfield, Panama, Celoron, Lakewood, Frewsburg, Falconer, Stockton, Kennedy, Jamestown and Dewittville were called to various flooding or trees/power lines down calls.

A large tree fell on a building at the Celoron Shores Apartments, just feet away from Chautauqua Lake. Only minimal damage was visible on the building.
