FRENCH CREEK — Five people were taken to the hospital with minor injuries following a crash Sunday evening.
The Chautauqua County Sheriff’s Office said the crash took place shortly before 7 p.m. at the intersection of Route 426 and King Road in French Creek.
An investigation determined that 29-year-old William C. Nemeth of Highland Heights, Ohio, allegedly failed to yield the right of way at a stop sign to another vehicle, causing the crash at the intersection.
Five people were taken to UPMC Hamot in Erie, Pa., with non-life-threatening injuries, the Sheriff’s Office said late Sunday in a press release.
Deputies were assisted at the scene by volunteer firefighters from Findley Lake, Clymer and Sherman.
Nemeth was issued a traffic citation for failure to yield the right of way at a stop sign. He is scheduled to appear in French Creek Town Court at a later date to answer the charge.
