Jamestown Jammers To ‘Go Dark’ In 2019; Team Donated To Local Nonprofit
The Jamestown Jammers will cease operation for the 2019 season as a team in the Perfect Game Collegiate Baseball League. Team and city officials made the announcement Wednesday at Russell Diethrick Park.
Anthony Barone, field manager and community relations for ROC Ventures, said the announcement was bittersweet. Barone said two offers for the team were made. However, the purchase would have moved the team and its equipment to another city.
Instead, the team and its assets will be “donated” to a local nonprofit organization “so that high quality baseball has a chance to stay here in Jamestown for the continued enjoyment of future generations.”
Barone said the hope is for the group to bring the team back to the field for the 2020 season.
