No one was injured after a fire broke out Saturday at Ben Weitsman of Jamestown, a private scrap metal processing facility located at 610 W. Eighth St. The fire was reported around 1:45 p.m.

A Jamestown fire official said crews arrived to find heavy smoke in one of the scrap metal piles. Several water lines were used to douse the smoldering scrap pile while crews from Ben Weitsman used a large excavator to move some of the material. Firefighters were on scene for about an hour.

The cause of the fire wasn’t known by press time and remained under investigation Saturday, the fire official said.
