Restrictions Eased On Visitation By Brooks Hospital Starting Monday

Brooks Memorial Hospital.

Brooks Memorial Hospital announced today it will ease visitation restrictions starting next week.

Previously, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, all hospital visitations were suspended in March.

“We realize the COVID restrictions have been difficult for patients’ families and we appreciate everyone’s cooperation to keep our patients, staff and community safe,” said Jodi Witherell, CNO, vice president of quality services. “While we are pleased to allow patients to have a loved one with them for brief periods during their stay, we hope everyone will understand our continued vigilance as we navigate during this pandemic.”

Brooks-TLC will allow one visitor at a time for in-patients, as determined by the patient, from 3 to 6 p.m. daily. Patients having a same-day surgical procedure may have one designated visitor after the procedure and through the discharge process. Obstetrics patients will be allowed one designated support person or visitor.

Pediatric patients are allowed two designated visitors, one at a time, at any time throughout their stay. No visitors are allowed in the emergency room, unless the patient is a minor, is incompetent to answer questions, or is at end of life. Visitation is not permitted for COVID-19 patients, with exceptions to be made on a case-by-case basis for end of life situations.

All visitors must be 18 years of age and will complete a COVID screening questionnaire and be temperature checked prior to entering the hospital. Visitors should arrive with a mask on and will be required to wear it appropriately throughout the visit. If they do not have a mask, one will be provided upon entry.

Visitors must perform proper hand hygiene using hand sanitizer upon entry to the facility and when entering and leaving a patient room. Visitors must remain in the patient’s room for the duration of their visit, unless otherwise directed by staff, with the exception of the maternity department, where the designated visitor is permitted to leave and return the next day.

Any visitor who fails to adhere to the above will be asked to leave the facility. For more information on visitation, visit www.brookshospital.org.
