New Directions Youth and Family Services expands holiday gift campaign

3 min read

New Directions Youth and Family Services is bringing back its annual holiday gift campaign, the Holiday Hope Gift Campaign, previously called Save a Christmas.

The Holiday Hope Gift Campaign, sponsored by Independent Health, provides gifts for children and families receiving services from Gateway Longview and New Directions Youth and Family Services.

The charitable campaign, which runs throughout the holiday season, invites the community to make a difference in the lives of local children by sponsoring families and helping to fulfill a combined total of more than 1,600 wish lists from children receiving services from both Gateway Longview and New Directions Youth and Family Services. The Holiday Hope Team collects the children's wish lists from all the participating department/program areas and matches them up with donors within the Western New York community who purchase the gifts. Donors can be corporations, small businesses, church groups, community groups, families and individuals.

Community members can also volunteer as emergency shoppers to shop for gifts using supplied gift cards to complete wish lists that have not been sponsored toward the end of the campaign. Those interested can also volunteer as a donation drive host to to collect toys or common household and family necessities. Team volunteers can make groups to prepare and sort donated gifts to be delivered to families. For more information about volunteer opportunities and to sign up, please contact Roe Rahman-Schwen, events and volunteer specialist, at 716-383-7880 or rschwen@newviewalliance.org.

"The Holiday Hope Gift Campaign is a testament to our commitment to continue to serve and support families as we move forward and become one agency – New View Alliance," said Carolyne DeFranco, CEO of New View Alliance. "We are deeply honored for all of the tremendous support both Gateway Longview and New Directions Youth and Family Services have received over the years. The generosity and compassion displayed by the community during both agencies' historic holiday gift campaigns – Adopt-an-Angel and Save a Christmas – and the support given last year during the first year of the Holiday Hope Gift Campaign are part of what has inspired us to expand our services and support more families. We are excited to once again work with the community to provide gifts and positive memories for families as we enter the holiday season."
