STOW – Barbecued chicken added to North Harmony Seniors’ August potluck dinner meeting brought out 45 members and four guests.
The Hospitality Committee of Dee and Chuck Ellis, Anita and Earl Ferry, and Linda and Lois Kesby set up the tables and cleaned up after everyone feasted. Mary Pratt and Evelyn Thorndike received birthday honors with a cake provided by Pam and John Brown, and Bev and Clare Crawford’s 68th anniversary was applauded.
Club member Louise Ortman will become interim supervisor of the town of North Harmony, since Rob Yates is retiring soon.
Lois Kesby announced there will be a Living History Fair from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sept. 19 at the Harmony Historical Society campus, 1043 Open Meadows Road, Ashville. There will be live early American trade demonstrations all day. There is no fee to be enlightened and entertained.
Speaker for the night was Becky Blum, reporting on behalf of the New York State Senior Action Council. There is a bill pending in the State Legislature entitled “New York Health Act” which would eliminate any and all medical expenses borne by a New York State resident, as the state would pay for those services. The Senior Action Council finds this bill promising.
Winners of the 50/50 raffle were Barb Cheney and Mary Jane Miller.
The next potluck dinner meeting will be Sept. 21 at 5 p.m. at the clubhouse at 5377 Stow Road, Stow.
