New pastor joins Panama Methodist Church

PANAMA – Pastor Jeremy Phipps and his wife, Laurel, have officially joined the Panama Methodist Church family.

Phipps comes to the church from York, Pa., where he has been serving as the pastor of two Global Methodist congregations for the past couple of years. Before that, he served in the Lowcountry of South Carolina, where he has spent most of his life. From his teenage years into his 20s, he has been involved in music ministry with various Pentecostal-Charismatic churches, playing piano, bass and guitar, as well as leading congregational worship before accepting his call to pastoral ministry in 2020.

Phipps was ordained a deacon at last year's Northeast Annual Conference, where he serves on both the worship team and the camping ministry team.

In addition to his ministry work, he is pursuing his Master of Divinity degree at Asbury Theological Seminary. His wife, Laurel, who has a background in Christian education and ministry, accepted her call to ordained ministry at last year's Annual Conference and has just begun her journey at Asbury Theological Seminary.

Currently, they share their home with their beloved Australian Shepherd, Samson, and their two cats, Ally and Sombra. They are both passionate about worship music and it is not uncommon to find them singing together.
