Chautauqua County Legislator Lisa Vanstrom of Ellicott has announced her candidacy for re-election, representing District 15 on the Chautauqua County Legislature.
Vanstrom is seeking to continue to work on behalf of local constituents, with a focus on fiscal responsibility, efficient government, public safety, infrastructure, and economic development that supports local jobs and strengthens our communities. She first began serving on the County Legislature in January 2014 and has a leadership role on the Chautauqua County Legislature as assistant majority leader.
Vanstrom has been endorsed by the Chautauqua County Republican Party and the Chautauqua County Conservative Party.
Vanstrom serves as Constituent Specialist for state Sen. George Borrello, where she works with constituents, municipal leaders, and community organizations throughout the region to address local concerns and help cut through red tape in state government.
She also serves on the Chautauqua County Soil and Water Conservation District board, the Chautauqua County Sheriff’s Traffic Safety Board and the Stop DWI Board.
Vanstrom serves on the legislature's Administrative Services Committee and has served on Public Safety and Health and Human Services committees. She has advocated for responsible budgeting, efficient county operations, infrastructure investments, and policies that protect taxpayers while maintaining essential county services.
Vanstrom points to the county’s efforts to manage spending and the property tax burden as an important part of her record of service. The 2026 county budget reduced the county property tax rate to $6.17 per $1,000 of assessed value.
“I believe every decision I make should be driven by doing what is right for our neighbors,” Vanstrom said. “I have worked to demonstrate that we can reduce the property tax burden, improve the efficiency of county government, and continue investing in our communities. Fiscal responsibility, government efficiency, and public safety will remain my priorities as I seek the privilege of continuing to serve District 15.”
Vanstrom also emphasized her commitment to preserving Chautauqua Lake and supporting outdoor recreation throughout the county.
“Chautauqua Lake is a valuable natural asset, and I believe in protecting it for future generations,” Vanstrom said. “I also believe in supporting the rights and activities of our county sportsmen and women and everyone seeking recreational opportunities here.”
