Valley Historical Society receives donation

Joshua L. Spinler of the Cassadaga Sons of American Legion recently presented a donation check to the Valley Historical Society to be used towards expenses at the upcoming History Fair in Sinclairville. Accepting the check are Sheryl Christy, society president, and Chuck Cichon, vice president.

SINCLAIRVILLE – Valley Historical Society members and guests gathered recently for the annual summer picnic in the Sinclairville ball park.

President Sheryl Christy welcomed all to the gathering. The blessing prior to the meal was given by Tyler Worden, and the Pledge of Allegiance was led by treasurer John Sipos. The minutes of the previous meeting were given by secretary Evelyn Thorndike, and the financial report given by Sipos.

The Valley Historical Society has scheduled the 27th annual history fair on Saturday, Sept. 12, from breakfast at 7 a.m. until fireworks at 9 p.m. The grand parade on Main Street will be at 10 a.m. During the day there are many activities, food stands, music, a pie contest, the baby contest, the dog show, the car show, library programs, and the museum will be open all day, and there is no charge. Carriage rides will be available, and a tour of the Sinclairville Cemetery. The event was organized by village trustee Dean Houser. David Christy, master of ceremonies, will give a brief history before beginning the parade. All are welcome.

At the picnic Joshua L. Spinler from the Cassadaga American Legion Sons of Legion presented a $500 check to the Valley Historical Society towards the expenses of the upcoming history fair. Spinler is the Eighth District SAL commander.
